Finally all done!

I finally got my tessellation quilt done! Took me a lot longer than it probably should have. But with this b-e-a-utiful weather I had to take some pics of it in the sun.

Ahhhhh dappled sun!
Couldn't you just fall asleep here?

Gorgeous bright sunny colours on a gorgeous bright sunny day! Hope you enjoy yours!

Caramel Popcorn.

Here is just a quick recipe. I tried it a couple of nights ago and it was AWESOME! I just had to share it.

I started with a bag of microwave popcorn but in any case you will need about 14cups of popped corn.
And then the best part the Caramel. Yummmmm!

You'll need:

125g butter, chopped
3/4 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1 cup pecans, roughly chopped

1.  You'll need to prepare a lined tray for the popcorn to cool on.
2. Place butter, sugar and honey into a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring, for 5 to 7 minutes or until sugar has dissolved. Bring mixture to the boil. Boil, uncovered, without stirring, for 5 to 8 minutes or until light golden.
3.  Add the chopped nuts to the caramel and then pour the entire mixture over the popcorn. Make sure not to get any caramel on your finger cause it hurts... youch! Mix well then pour out onto you prepared tray.
And that's it. Let it cool completely and then you can eat.

This recipe is fool proof, trust me. If it's completely cooled and you feel it's not hard caramel but slightly chewy just stick it into a hot oven for a couple of minutes and let cool again. And if you don't have pecans (which I didn't) you can use peanuts. Next time I'll be trying it with out the honey and using brown sugar. It's entirely up to your taste.

I did want to have a pic here of a big gorgeous bowl of caramel popcorn but unfortunately it didn't last the night. Enjoy!

Writters block.

I apologise in advance for the boring post and hope that it wont stop you from visiting again!

....................Ummmmmmmm....................
That has pretty much been my week so far. Every time I get on the computer to write a new post I'm completely stumped. It might be because I've been a bit lazy with my sewing projects. I'm blaming the weather, that seems to be the excuse lately. A grey morning says "stay in your pj's and watch movies with a quilt and a never ending cuppa" to me and probably even to the most motivational person. I have been doing alot of stalking for the Down Under Doll Quilt Swap which is heaps of fun! And I did get started on that Half Square Triangle quilt. Hopefully the rest of the week will be a little more productive. So I just wanted to drop in and say I'm still here... just still in my pj's.

Light bulb moment.

Although I have been doing a lot of quilting lately, (I have 3 unfinished quilts waiting for me) I still love my interiors and my fave blog to visit is, no surprise here, House of Turquoise. So I was meandering through the stunning pics, catching up to where I left last and I found a post on this gorgeous lounge room and this photo caught my attention... I think I have an idea for the quilt swap. Yup that's how my unusual brain works. This pic gave me the design for my mini quilt swap. And when I get an idea I can't sleep well till I've done it.

So this weekend is my starting date. Even though the deadline is the 27th of May which gives me 2 whole months I think once I get started I'm getting it done! I think my surprise recipient will be very pleased. I'll show you some sneak peeks when I can but I don't want to give anything away till it's in it's new home.

Oh and I'm not sure if this is a big deal but it is a little milestone for this little blog. I've officially blogged more times in the last 3 months than last year. Kinda exciting for me since I didn't even know anything about blogging when I started, after all I'm still only 8 months old.

Enjoy your weekend!!

Kinda scared but really excited.

Well what can I say... I have that really nervous, "Oh my goodness what have I got myself into" feeling. I've seen other blogs do it but I've never tried it. A quilt swap!! Just a mini one but still... A QUILT SWAP. What if they don't like me, what if they don't like my blog...and worse what if they don't like my quilt. :S Well it is my first time so I am being a "little" dramatic. It is actually very exciting. I really just hope I can live up to the gorgeous quilts of last year. Amazing quilts one after another. Head over to the Flickr group to check them out. Soooo now my dilemma... What to make?

I've really been wanting to try some of these...

Hyena In Peticoats
The little hunting creek company
Via A Good Yarn
Red Pepper Quilts

Or maybe a fancy Drunkards Path... I'm lost in a sea of quilt patterns that I really wanna try. Eeeek!
So glad I have till May to finish it. I'll keep you posted.

P.S. A really BIG thanks to Kate from One Flew Over for letting me be a part of this!

I just had to try it!!

Hello again,
I just wanted to explain a little bit more about my "Wordless Wednesday" post this week. One of the blogs I love to visit is The Purl Bee. So when I found the tutorial to make this quilt I just had to try it...like right now.

The Purl Bee
And so I did. I just grabbed bits and pieces of scrap fabric, and a whole heap of random pieces of tableware and stared marking out circles of different sizes. (don't look too close, I know some of them are wonky)

I played around with the placement and then I thought "What on earth am I going to do with a mini quilt?" The idea came to me as I was... well sleeping actually (probably because I dream about wrapping little misses baby doll for the millionth time) A doll quilt. I know it's not an original idea, it is new to me. Perfect for little miss as she's turning her quilt into a dusty mess dragging it all over the place getting me to wrap and then her unwrapping which inevitably ends with me wrapping her doll again and again. Do you see the pattern here?
It's perfect. I get to try out a new technique and practice playing with my free motion quilting foot and little miss gets a new quilt for her baby. And the bonus... it is completely made of scraps.

I'm working on the quilting and binding at this stage. Free motion quilting is a lot harder than it looks. I might stick to straight quilting for a little longer!

Lollipop's going Triangles...

YAY it's Monday!!! I'm keeping it positive this week and reminding myself that Monday isn't such a bad thing. After all I get a lot more sewing done during the week than on a weekend. Like last week I got to making my little miss 2 dresses... Yup count them 2! Which after finishing I found out didn't fit. Little miss takes after her Daddy in that she is very slim and very tall so a size 2 dress doesn't really fit my two year old little girl. Good lesson to learn. They'll be packed up for next summer unfortunately.
But I also got started on another quilt. (I'm notorious for starting one project before completing another, what can you do?)

This one started off with a whole heap of half square triangles.Well it was 2 charm packs and now is a whole heap of half square triangles.

The possibilities are endless!

I'm stuck on which one to do first. I really like the zigzags but the big square are nice too!
Mmmmm I guess I'll just have to choose as I go. Maybe mix it up?

This charm pack is available to purchase at my Facebook store. Just click HERE to visit my store.
I hope you enjoy your Monday. :)

Progress...

Remember my tessellation quilt? This is what I've come up with...

I went with a simple set up, spent some time playing around with the colour placement just to make sure there were no pinks or blues touching ... that sort of thing. Put it all together and a couple of borders later comes this top layer.

I don't know why I always like to border my quilts. I've made some quilts with and some without but I've always liked it. Feels like it's finishing it off like a frame or something like that.

Gorgeous colours aren't they.
This quilt can be made with any of the fabrics available at my facebook store so please don't hesitate to e-mail me if you would like one in any fabric or size!
Look forward to hearing from you!
