Ok so I had to get in on this, right? I missed out on the last one but who can pass up an offer to go window shopping! Besides I love playing around with fabrics.
Let me fill you in now, Katy at I'm a ginger monkey along with Brenda from Pink Castle Fabrics are running a give-away to win your chosen fabric bundle. Mmmmm yes please!
So this is my chosen collection. I do love my greens and blues with the grey it just makes me sigh!

Peter Rabbit

Isn't he so cute. I have to admit I never read any Beatrix Potter but I think this little guy and all the characters are adorable. This fabric is the inspiration for the colour way I'm going with for this quilt (hope you like it L). I was asked to make a boys Peter Rabbit themed quilt and this fabric was what I could get my hands on. I know there are others out there. Even here in Aus Spotlight just stocked a whole heap of licensed fabrics but in store the Peter Rabbit stuff just seem a little too cheap for my liking. Not to offend any one, I just mean the colours aren't intense and they detail was lacking, they just didn't grab my attention.

I pulled these colours from the main fabric and some coordinating print. The bottom 2 are from Denyse Schmidt's Daisy Mae and the brown polka dot is just a blender from my local fabric store.

I'm just playing around with the placement now. I was thinking of doing something like this quilt but after laying it out, it seamed too simple because of the solids. Any suggestions??

We're back & a Winner!!

We're back! We had a great time and the weather was AWESOME. Only raining the day we were in Brisbane and the day we left. We had a jam packed trip that's for sure. Thought you might like to see some pics. (For the winner of the Sewing Kit give-away just skip to the bottom.)

The first couple of days we stayed with in the Gold Coast. Checked out Surfers paradise and the local shopping centre. Did lots of swimming in the resort pool. These pics though are from Sunday where we went for a bit of a drive. We stumbled over a couple of quaint cafes but this Tea House was gorgeous! There was gorgeous china everywhere and the gardens that this place was set on were stunning.

Every table was set so beautifully and there were chandeliers hanging from the ceiling even though we were out on the deck.

Oh and sitting under the tree to the left of this picture was a gentleman playing the piano.

On Monday we packed ourselves some lunch and lathered up in sunscreen and hit Dream World.

First stop of course this store. Very "convenient" having this store right near the entry...

But the real reason we went was to visit Wiggle World. Oh boy was M excited. She was dancing as soon as she heard the music.

Very adorable!

On Wednesday we drove into Brisbane and had a look around. The weather wasn't the best that day but we still enjoyed ourselves. Made a pit stop in Max Brenner, played at the park in South bank and spent the day catching up with family.

But I won't keep you waiting any longer...
Firstly I just wanted to thank you all for commenting and following my little blog. I really appreciate it!

More of a good thing is still good.

Well of these anyway. You guessed it, another sewing kit. Are you sick of these yet? I'm not! they make awesome gifts. (which this one is) I got my last book in the mail yesterday and to my horror it was rolled up and shoved into a newspaper hole. Not happy about that, but after a night between some hard cover books it turned out alright.

Does that sewing kit look familiar. I was inspired by it. I LOVE the linen with the green fabric so I had to make it.

The only difference from the pattern in the book is this fabric covered button.

I'm really enjoying the look of linen. What I mean is that it's calming and I love that its not competing with the prints.

I also put together these taggie soft blocks for a friends little boy. Haven't met her bub so I'm looking forward to catching up when we go away.

Two more sleeps and we're off to the Gold Coast. Just really hope this weather holds up for our week then it can do whatever it pleases. Either way I'm going to LIVE.IT.UP!!!
Cya when we get back.
xx

A bit distracted...

but that's not surprising. I always think of the dog in the movie Up when I get pulled to a new project. SQUIRREL!!!
So I have been busy sewing away but not on quilts. It's nice to mix it up sometimes.
This dress is for M. We're going away on a "big plane" soon and I wanted to get M excited so I promised her a plane dress. Did I deliver or did I deliver. I'm pretty chuffed as you might have guessed.

Hand made brooch adds the finishing touch.

I used a pattern from spotlight which cost me $4 on sale and I had everything else. Too easy. For anyone interested I used Burda pattern 9551. But as usual I had to use the size 2 for my 3 year old and I still had to bring it in on the sides when I was done. At least it will last her a while, as a top that is.

Hubby surprised me with some books from Fishpond. (still one more on the way) Isn't he the bestest. Trust me ladies who are here in Oz. Their prices cant be beat, and free postage on all sale no matter how cheap.

And just for fun here are some seedlings that M and I are growing. Winter flowers now that we're coming in to Autumn. She got so excited seeing the first sprout.

Don't forget my give-away is still running. The button is on the sidebar at the top.
Thank you so much if you've entered, I'm so excited I've already got over thirty comments.
Thank you again.
