Couldn't resist...

I did it, I started my first hand embroidered project. I just couldn't resist the gorgeous free transfer that Amy supplied. I mean look at that cutie!
I am really enjoying it. Every now and then though, I have to look up a video on you tube to see if I'm doing it right. I've already got my dresden plate ready for the embroidered centre, just like Amy. (always was a follower :P)

So when nap time comes today, you'll find me in front of a good girly movie with a cuppa tea close by and this embroidery hoop in hand.

32 minutes left and counting...

Today I love...

a freshly made bed & a little girls room.

The sun streaming through my bedroom window, perfect spot for a cuppa.

Vintage embroidered pillow cases

Now I know this may seem a little random but to be honest I've been toying with the idea to write more about ... well anything really. I've found myself only really blogging when I've made something and to be honest I'm in a bit of a slump lately. Haven't touched the sewing machine in a few weeks. I know of some bloggers that share absolutely everything with their followers and other who only stick to one topic. I read both types and although I'm not fussed either way I just can't bring myself to talk about anything other than sewing. Kinda limiting. So I'm sharing some pictures of things that make me smile. I know they may be simple  but sometimes a pause at M's door to admire the sun on her bed is really something to enjoy.

A finish

Another win for me... a finished quilt.

Head over here if you'd like to read more about the beginnings of this quilt.

It has been so much fun making this one. (as I say with all the quilts)
I didn't have to strain too hard to put this collection together, it was right in my comfort zone.

The grey, red, blue and green combo is so simple and so effective.
There is some Denyse Schmidt, Moda, Blake Riley and just some plain ol solids...

and of course cotton batting and backing.
Measured in at 96cm x 140cm. Custom size to suit a Boori cot mattress.

Really glad the mum to be loved it and I'm sure her little bundle will enjoy it when he or she makes a debut.

A bundle for a bundle.

I've been wanting to share this little project with you for a while now and I actually have a few minutes to sit down and tell you about it. (mean while my bedroom is a mess because I've left the quilt and pillows on the floor with the bed half made)

Firstly I want to tell you a little about my gorgeous cousin. She has been encouraging me, for a few years now, to turn this little hobby into a small business. Every time she has a friend that's expecting or a baby shower to go to, she gives me a ring and asks me to make something to gift. I really love when she calls and says "this is what I'm thinking what can you put together?"

So this was one of those project. A bit of a challenge but still with a quilty feel. A personalised set with two bibs, two appliquéd body suits and a embroidered towel.
The fabric is Zoology by Michael Miller, a fat quarter bundle I bought form Fabric Closet on Etsy and the white cotton rompers are from Target.

And since this was a formal occasion we felt that a tie was appropriate!

The towelling I bought from my local fabric store and the embroidery I did myself on my machine. I also used the towelling as a baking for the bibs for the absorption factor. Always handy!
It was so much fun to put this little bundle together. Loved making the bibs and I was thinking of making a couple for my little store. What do you think?

Stained glass window?

It really does have that effect.
I will definitely have to make one to gaze through in the coming cooler months.
This quilt isn't one for me to keep unfortunately. It's going out in the mail today. I'll be sharing more pics really soon.
