Finished Doll Quilt

It's done and I am so happy with it!!!
Hope my partner will like it.

I went with a black and white strip binding which gives it just a little bit of pattern with out taking away from the hexagons. That's what I was hoping for anyway.

I also hand quilted around each hexagon in a colour pulled from that one. Nine different colours in total.

The back is made up of a panel I made up with the scraps from the front and some of the dandelion fabric from Kate Spain's Central Park line for Moda.
And just as a reminder, a short and simple label on the back!

It measures 20" square.
Cant wait to get this bad boy posted with a few little goodies!!!
It was so much fun making this for you partner. Cant wait to hear your thoughts on it!!
There are so many GORGEOUS quilts popping up in the flickr group that I think I will be watching the mail man very closely for the next couple of weeks!!!!

Swoon...

Well what can I say.... My name is Lydia and I'm a swoonaholic....
I tried to fight it but it was the peer pressure... I couldn't resist.

I've finished a cot quilt size top and I have to admit this is not what I was planing when I started. I had these grand ideas of appliqué and fussy cutting. Then I got scared and this is what emerged.
I like this better anyway!

I used up the left overs from the flying geese block to add to the scrappy boarder. Couldn't just throw those puppies away.

I have to say that even though I had trouble understanding the pattern (had to make myself a cheat sheet to simplify the cutting) and my PDF pattern was faded a little, the measurements are perfect. Just look at those points above. Couldn't get them better if I tried.

Now the question is... how many swoons can you make in a day? ;)

Remember...

back in May (wowzers it was that long ago??) I made this cute bib and romper set?

Well the lovely lady who this pressie went to was kind enough to send me some professional photographs taken of her little man in his outfit.

Doesn't he have the most eatable cheeks?
I think there is something wrong with me when all I can think about is how badly I just wanna nibble those cheeks... just a little. I can hold it together for now, but I tell ya... those roly thighs are going to be my breaking point!!! Hehehe

Mario

I have to say these blocks are very addictive!

I couldn't wait for some of the pdf patterns to come out so I just went by the picture of the finished quilt.
Can't believe I'm doing it but it's so much fun!

Scraps

When a pile of scraps look this pretty you know that something good is going to happen.
These are the scraps from my doll quilt.

Which turned into an improv block for the back of the quilt.

I figured if I make the back into it's own side my partner can have the choice of what ever side she would like to have up.
Or maybe I'll just keep it... ;)

Today I love...

A freshly made bed with bargain buy bedding...

& spending all day in my slippers.

Just had to add I scored the quilt cover above for $7 in a bargain bin at Ikea and I'm absolutely in love with how soft it is! The white cushion was also a score at $6 with its feather insert! Love love LOVE a good bargain!
